The toll in the CST bridge collapse has increased to seven with the death of a 57-year-old woman.

Nanda Kadam, a banker, went into a sudden cardiac arrest while under treatment at the MGM Hospital in Vashi on Wednesday.

Ms. Kadam, a senior manager at the Sahayadri Sahakari Bank Ltd in Chira Bazaar was on her way to the board a train on March 14 when the Himalaya bridge collapsed.

She was first admitted to the St George Hospital and was shifted to the MGM Hospital in Vashi the next day.

She had suffered from severe injuries including fractures in both the legs. “She was recovering well after undergoing two surgeries. The doctors were all set to discharge her from the hospital in two-three days”, said Vishwanath Sawant, a family friend.

“At around 6.30 pm, she suddenly felt uneasy. The doctors put her on oxygen support and she was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit where she succumbed at around 7 pm”, he added.
