Mumbai: The city recorded the season’s lowest temperature on Monday morning. The minimum temperature hit 16.8 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal, compared to 17 degrees on Sunday.
After the October heat spilled onto November, minimum temperatures dipped in December, from 24 degrees to 18 degrees. The city will continue to experience the chill weather for the next few days, with IMD predicting a further drop in temperature. “Northerly lower-level winds are causing the dip in temperature, but this will continue only for a few days. Then we can expect the temperature to rise again,” an IMD official said.
The maximum temperature on Monday was 31.1 degrees, one degree below normal. The all-time record for the lowest minimum December temperature was 10.6 degrees on December 20, 1949.
