The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will be organising Mumbai Darshan buses for lakhs of people who will be visiting the city on Mahaparinirvan Divas, the death anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, on December 6.

BEST will run five such services from December 4 to 7. Ashish Chemburkar, BEST committee chairman, said, “We want people coming to Mumbai to enjoy the various tourist spots. These will be ordinary buses and each trip will be for around three hours, depending on the traffic.”

The buses will halt at key places associated with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s life such as Rajgriha, his home in Dadar, and Siddharth College in Fort, and tourist centres such as the Gateway of India and Byculla Zoo. The buses will start from Shivaji Park and will cost ₹150 per person. The buses will halt for 10 to 15 minutes at each of the spots. BEST officials said that they have made adequate arrangements along with Traffic Police to ensure traffic movement is not affected.

BEST has increased the number of bus services in connection with the event. It will run buses 24x7 between Dadar station and Shivaji Park from December 4 to 6. They will also be running extra buses on routes connecting Gorai and Kanheri caves with Borivali station, and Marve chowpatty to Malad station. BEST will be setting up information stalls at Shivaji Park, where people can make inquires about bus routes and fares.
