Mumbai: Two suicides were reported in the city on Friday. Ketan Patil (31) from Sion Koliwada allegedly shot himself in the head near his residence at 1.15 a.m. “Patil used a country-made illegal firearm to kill himself. He first fired a round in the air and then shot the second one through his head,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IV) N. Ambika said.

Patil used to run a pan-beedi shop in his locality and was also involved in real estate brokerage. In the second incident at 11.15 a.m., Shweta Shah (23), a homemaker, jumped from the balcony of her seventh-floor apartment at Kothari Heights in Mumbai Central. “Shah’s family is in shock, and we have not been able to speak to them,” senior police inspector Sanjay Basvat, Nagpada police station, said. The police have registered accidental death reports in both incidents.
