Three dead in road accident in Kannur

Three people travelling in a van died in a road accident near Chala under the Edakkad police station limits here on Tuesday morning.

The police said that only the driver of the van has been identified from his driving licence. He was identified as Ramar, 35, of Thenkasi, Tamil Nadu. The deceased included a middle-aged man and a senior citizen. The police said that efforts are on to identify them.

The three were travelling in a van from the Thalassery side towards Kannur in the early hours of Tuesday when the vehicle collided with a tipper lorry. The bodies were extricated from the badly damaged van by Fire and Rescue Services and are kept at the government hospital in Kannur.
