The students’ union of the Government Medical College, Kozhikode, has alleged that stray dog menace is making the lives of doctors, students and patients miserable on the campus.

In a press release here on Tuesday, union chairman Aakhil Nabuhan said around 30 stray dogs were seen roaming around the premises of the hostel and the hospital in the night. Even during the day, senior citizens and children visiting the hospital were being chased by the dogs.

Passengers attacked

Two weeks ago, seats of bikes parked near the students’ hostel were found damaged.

There had been reports of passengers on motorcycles being attacked by dogs.

Mr. Nabuhan alleged that the complaints lodged with the authorities earlier had not yielded any results.

He claimed that the students were not able to step out of their hostels at night and doctors were not able to attend to their duties at the hospital. The college authorities should act on the issue as early as possible, he added.
