: Government employees on poll duty across the seven districts including the three northern districts of Kerala, where the first phase of the local body elections will be held on November 2 have sought a duty leave the next day of the poll since it would be practically impossible for them to reach their regular workplaces on time.

Leaders of the Kerala Private College Ministerial Staff Federation (KPCMSF), which has made a request to the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to this effect, have maintained that more than 25,000 employees will be assigned various responsibilities in connection with the polling.
