SSLC exams from today, highest number of students in Thamarassery

Schools asked to provide drinking water to students in view of rising day temperatures

A total of 38,743 students from Kozhikode district are appearing for the SSLC examinations beginning on Wednesday.

There are over 200 exam centres in the district. The highest number of students are from Thamarassery educational district – 15,228. There are 14,176 students from Kozhikode educational district and 9,339 from Vadakara educational district. Of them, 18, 561 are boys and 20,182 are girls.

Deputy Director of Education E.K. Suresh Kumar told The Hindu on Tuesday that schools had been asked to provide drinking water to the students in view of the rising day temperatures. Students have also been told to keep water bottles handy. Four squads of officials would inspect various examination centres to check malpractices. They would be led by staff from the office of the DDE, District Educational Officer, Department of Public Instruction, and the secretariat. Question papers had been kept under police surveillance near exam centres and they would be transported in escorted vehicles, he added.

M.J. Higher Secondary School, Elettil Vattoli , in Thamarassery educational district tops the list of schools with the highest number of students – 989. Memunda Higher Secondary School in Vadakara has 881 students and Government Ganapath Vocational Higher Secondary School, Feroke, Kozhikode, has 835 students. The exams will begin at 1.45 p.m.

Meanwhile, the help desk set up by the Kozhikode district panchayat for Class 10 students is operational between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. The students can talk to the special panel of counsellors set up in the three educational districts.
