Rs.1 crore from MP’s fund for railway projects

A sum of Rs.1 crore has been allotted from the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) Fund of the Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran for various railway development projects in the district this fiscal.

The railway projects were officially launched on Monday. They include constructing a railway under bridge at Onchiyam (Rs.50 lakh) and renovation of existing platforms at Vadakara Mukkali station (Rs.30 lakh); Iringal station (Rs.10 lakh), and Nadapuram Road station (Rs.10 lakh).

So far used

About Rs.6 crore out of the Rs.10 crore allocated for the district under the MPLADS Fund of the Minister has been so far spent from 2009-10 to 2012-13.

As many as 352 out of the 666 schemes have also been completed during this period.
