Pravasi League State meet from May 3

The inaugural State conference of the Kerala Pravasi League will be held in Kozhikode from May 3 to 5.

Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader and Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed will formally open the conference at 9.30 a.m. on May 4, organisation State general secretary C.P. Bava said at a press meet here on Friday.

IUML national secretary M.P. Abdussamad Samadani, State unit general secretary K.P.A. Majeed, treasurer P.K.K. Bava, and Minister for Panchayats and Social Welfare M.K. Muneer will speak at the opening ceremony.

Seminar

Mr. Bava said a seminar that would discuss various issues related to the rehabilitation of Gulf returnees would be a key event of the conference. Minister for Non-Resident Keralites’ Affairs K.C. Joseph would inaugurate the seminar. IUML leader Abdurahiman Randathani would present the topic. Various political party leaders, including M.P. Veerendrakumar, C.P. John, and P.M.A. Salam, would speak.

K.P.A. Majeed would inaugurate a delegates’ conference on the second day. Education Minister and IUML leader P.K. Abdu Rabb would speak.

IUML national secretary E.T. Mohammed Basheer and Minister for Urban Affairs Manjalamkuzhi Ali would speak during the evening session on the day. Cultural programmes would be staged as part of the conference.

A flag-bearing procession, starting from Beemapally in Thiruvananthapuram, led by Mr. Bava and a flagpole-bearing procession starting from Kasaragod under the leadership of the organisation’s State unit president K. Muhammed Faizi would reach the Beach here at 6 p.m. on May 3, marking the start of the conference, Mr. Bava said.

As many as 25,000 workers would take part in a Pravasi rally on the final day, he said.

The valedictory of the conference would be inaugurated by IUML State president Panakkad Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal. Minister for Industries P.K. Kunhalikutty would preside.
