A demand to bifurcate the University of Calicut for ensuring its efficiency has been raised during the State secretariat meeting of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) here on Sunday.

This was disclosed by the party national secretary E.T. Muhammed Basheer, who spoke to media person after the meeting.

Responsibilities

Mr. Basheer said that the university was not being able to rise up to the expected level of performance due to huge responsibilities.

According to him, the secretariat members of the party observed that the university was finding it difficult to take ahead the academic and administrational matters together in an effective manner.

The secretariat meeting has also demanded the union government to ensure the promised voting right for expatriates this year itself.

Expatriate votes

“The vote for the expatriates should be ensured for the upcoming local body elections itself,” said Mr. Basheer.

Good performance

The meeting also complimented the Education Minister P. K. Abdu Rabb on his good performance in steering his ministry.

Party State president Panakkad Sayyed Hyderali Shihab Thangal presided over the meeting.
