The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has urged people to be extremely cautious in view of the warning that day-time temperatures are likely to go 2 degrees Celsius to 4 degrees Celsius above normal in Kozhikode district for two more days.
A release said here on Thursday that direct exposure to sunlight should be completely avoided between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. as there is a chance of sunstroke. Children should not be left to play outside during the time. A bottle of drinking water should be kept handy to avoid dehydration. Vacation classes should be completely avoided.
The district administration has already warned of action against employers who force labourers to work between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., especially against the backdrop of the death of a migrant labourer due to sunstroke. Online food delivery agents should be given enough time to rest, and their uniforms could be changed to ensure their safety. Meanwhile, the Kerala Water Authority has set up 24X 7 helplines to address complaints on water scarcity.
