LDF entry only a technical matter: INL

June 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - Kozhikode:

The Indian National League is treated with due respect by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M] and its entry to the Left Democratic Front is only a technical matter, INL leaders have said.

INL State office-bearers Ahammad Deverkovil, A.P. Abdul Wahab, Bashir Baderi, K.P. Ismail, N.K. Abdul Aziz, and Abdul Chettippadi told a news conference here on Wednesday that they had been informed of all programmes of the front.

Benefits

The party had obtained the benefits of an alliance partner and it reciprocated in the same manner, they said. The INL leaders said the party wholeheartedly supported LDF candidate M. Vijayakumar in the Aruvikkara assembly by-poll. Its representatives had been accommodated on the election committee. INL workers would campaign for the LDF candidate in the coming days, they said. The INL, in association with its feeder Pravasi organisations, had launched a Millath Santhwanam Project for charity.

This involved disbursal of monthly pension to economically weak families and scholarships to students. It had envisaged a Rs.5-crore project for the purpose, they said.

About 250 families would receive Rs.1,000 per month in the first phase.

Later, the scheme would be extended to 1,000 more families, they said.
