The decision of the Ministry of Tourism to ink a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dalmia Bharat Group for maintaining the Red Fort and to build basic infrastructure around it has evoked sharp criticism from the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), which said the Centre’s decision to hand over historical monuments to corporates was shameless and degenerating.
A meeting of State- level leaders of the party held here on Thursday accused the BJP-led government of implementing its fascist agenda to sell off the cultural heritage of the country. The ruling party should ensure that the cultural heritage of India was kept intact.

Now, the Narendra Modi government at the Centre was experimenting by interfering in cultural institutions after executing the illogical demonetisation and GST that gave a harrowing time for citizens, the meeting said.
The meeting also decided to make the protest being organised by the United Democratic Front (UDF) against the Centre and the State government in Kozhikode on May 8 a huge success, IUML leaders said.
