The Indian National League (INL) has flayed the stance of the MPs of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) when the Lok Sabha passed the National Investigation Agency Amendment Bill, saying that they had joined hands with Hindutva proponents.
In a statement here on Thursday , INL State president A.P. Abdul Wahab, and general secretary Kassim Irikkur, said that the IUML members staged a walkout instead of dissenting against the Bill in Parliament. This publicly displayed their soft stand towards the Narendra Modi government.
When the amendment bill was put to vote, the BJP-led NDA government secured 278 votes while six representatives of the CPI(M), the CPI and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) took a stern stand and opposed it, the INL leaders said.
In a similar situation, they said that IUML leader, P.K. Kunhalikutty, had flown down to the State to attended a wedding when the Lok Sabha had discussed and adopted the Triple Talaq or the Muslim Women Protection of Rights on Marriage Bill last year.
They said that only the AIMIM representative, Asaduddin Owaisi, and the members of the Left parties had pointed out the hidden dangers the minorities would have to face when the NIA was given vast powers and jurisdiction extended outside the country. However, the IUML MPs remained unconcerned, the INL leaders said.
