IIM-K wins championship at Sangram sports meet

The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K), were crowned champions of the recently concluded annual inter-IIM sports meet, ‘Sangram’, in Kozhikode.

The 15th edition of Sangram saw closely contested events between all four IIMs in the South, spread across three days. Nearly 700 students from the IIMs of Bangalore, Trichy, Vizag and Kozhikode, participated in the sports meet.

Hosts IIM Kozhikode (9 gold, 4 silver, 5 bronze) emerged victorious and wrested the overall champions trophy from last year’s winners IIM Bangalore (6 gold, 9 silver, 5 bronze) who emerged second this time followed by IIM Trichy (5 gold, 6 silver, 9 bronze) and IIM Vizag (1 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze). The meet witnessed a total of 25 events out of which 22 were medal events and included 18 sports disciplines - table tennis, carrom, chess, pool, swimming, cricket, football, lawn tennis, badminton, volleyball, basketball, hockey, kho-kho, futsal, throwball, kabaddi, foosball and frisbee. Out of these, kabaddi, foosball, and frisbee were non-medal events introduced in this edition of Sangram.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mamtha Kanojia, member of the Indian national women cricket team and current captain of the Hyderabad cricket team, in the presence of Prof. Anandkuttan Unnithan, Dean (Academics), IIMK.
