A meeting of owners of printing presses in the district was held here on Monday to apprise them of the guidelines pertaining to printing of notices, posters, and pamphlets for the upcoming polls to local bodies.
The name of the press and the publisher, address and number of copies should be mentioned in the printed matter.
Affidavit
The publisher should also submit an affidavit signed by two witnesses stating that the candidate or his/her representative was directly known to him/her.
Besides, a copy of the printed matter, number of copies and amount charged should be submitted within 10 days before the District Returning Officer who is the District Collector.
The meeting also asked political parties, press owners to adhere to Section 124 of the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 and Section 148 of the Kerala Municipal Act.
Details of pamphlets and posters printed outside the districts should also be submitted. Candidates should avoid distribution of copies taken via DTP.
Stern action would be taken against those violating the guidelines.
