The LPG department of the Indian Oil Corporation has decided to position an Emergency Rescue Vehicle (ERV) at its Chelari bottling plant to carry out rescue operations in times of accidents in the Malabar region. In a communication to District Collector N. Prasanth, Murali Srinivasan, State head and Executive Director of IOC (Kerala and Lakshadweep) said the ERC would be ready for operation from Monday.

Earlier, the Collector had issued summons to leading petroleum companies under Code of Criminal Procedure to answer a charge of “non-compliance of orders under Disaster Management Act-2005 for starting ERV at Malabar region” taking into account of the frequent tanker lorry accidents.
