Various aspects of ethics and morality in relation to idealism and reality were debated during a public debate for college students organised by the Regional Sciences Centre (RSC) in connection with the Vigilance Awareness Week programme at the RSC auditorium here on Thursday.
K. Shimjith of Malabar Christian College (MCC) and Zaban of Kozhikode regional centre of the State Civil Service Academy shared the first price in the contest. They argued that ethics and morality could be judged or put into practice only with a sense of realism.
Around a dozen students from different colleges participated in the debate in which Jayasneha of Malabar Christian College secured the second prize.
The prizes for the winners will be distributed at function at the centre on Saturday, said the organisers.
The RSC has been organising different programmes in connection with the Vigilance Awareness Week at the centre starting from October 26. On Wednesday, a talk on the ‘Role of the public in ensuring a corruption-free country’ was organised at the centre. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Vigilance) K. Asharaf delivered the talk.
