District Collector Jaffer Malik has sent a private bus conductor to Government Children’s Home at Tavanur for a 10-day probation after he was found guilty of ill-treating a student here on Wednesday.

The conductor of the bus plying between Manjeri and Parappanangadi had refused to let the student get off at a bus stop on Tuesday evening.

There were also complaints of misbehaviour against him from students.

Inquiry held

Following the Collector’s intervention, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) conducted an inquiry which found the conductor guilty. The RTO also seized the bus.

Mr. Malik said the accused was being sent to Government Children’s Home because he needed drastic correction to his behaviour and approach to children.

The conductor will work as caretaker at the home for 10 days from Thursday.

Mr. Malik said he hoped that the conductor would return a changed man with a compassoinate heart.
