The Calicut international airport at Karipur plunged into chaos on Wednesday night when a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan was shot dead and another injured during a clash between two sections of employees.

CISF Head Constable S.S. Jadav was shot dead reportedly by an Airports Authority of India (AAI) staff member.

The identity of the fire department staff member who shot the CISF man was not known.

Tension prevailed at the airport as the fire department staff member made his way across the tarmac after the shooting, and started riding around in the airside in a fire truck.

The CISF personnel reportedly gave chase to the fireman.

Air traffic was hit following the clash.

The trouble began at the Air Traffic Control tower side when the CISF personnel on duty prevented the movement of some fire department officials. An argument ensued and turned worse leading to fisticuffs.

The fireman reportedly pulled the pistol of Mr. Jadav and shot at him. He was hit on his neck.

Though Mr. Jadav was rushed to hospital, he died on the way. The identity of the injured was not known.
