Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been drawing flak for the increase in prices of essential commodities and fuels. Protests are being held across the country in various forms. A group of cartoonists in the district has also joined them by launching a novel mode of protest.
Cartoonists M. Dileef, C.K. Suresh, Karunakaran Perambra, Prajesh Nayarkuzhi and Girish Moozhippadam, with the assistance of nearly 60 schoolchildren from across the district, created 101 cartoons and sent them to the Prime Minister by post.
The protest took place in front of the Head Post Office at Mananchira and was inaugurated by artist Firoz.
The students, selected by the drawing teachers of the respective schools, put down their ideas on paper effortlessly.
With the help of the masters, various ideas related to price rise and difficulties faced by the public were given shape.
Many of the cartoons carried messages and slogans to the Prime Minister. The children in their own humble way called the attention of Mr. Modi to the issues they saw in their surroundings.
All the cartoons were collected and sent to the Prime Minister.
