About 43 miners of the Eastern Coalfields Ltd on Thursday were stuck for four hours following a technical glitch in a lift that takes them to the surface from the underground mine.

“Some 43 workers at Pandaveswar pit No 2 got stuck after breakdown of the steam winder of the lift,” an official at ECL told The Hindu.

“All miners were brought out after the lift was restored. They are safe and mining operations are going on as usual,” the officials said. The miners had completed their night shift.
