An 11-year-old girl has been allegedly raped and murdered in Kaliaganj town in Uttar Dinajpur district late on Monday night.
“We have arrested the mother of the accused for the crime. He is absconding,” Superintendent of Police, Uttar Dinajpur Syed Waquar Raza told The Hindu on Tuesday.
He also said that enraged locals, demanding immediate arrest of the accused, vandalised his house.
The police said that the accused lured the girl with offers of food and then raped her. After being found lying unconscious and bleeding, she was rushed to a local hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.
