West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday snapped at a journalist and asked him “not to indulge in politics” when she was asked about the police assault on media personnel during ‘March to Nabanna’ organised by the Left Parties on Monday.

“I am not going to give you the answer. Tell your people to behave properly,” she told a journalist when asked about the assault on journalists.

Ms. Banerjee was speaking to group of media persons at the city airport before leaving for New Delhi when the question of attack on journalist came up among other issues including Centre-State relations and election to the office of President.

“Tell him not to indulge in politics. He is a Ganashakti reporter,” the Chief Minister said, refusing to take any further question.

Ganashakti, is the mouth piece of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). More than 20 journalists were beaten up by the police personnel on Monday while covering the Left Front protest. On Tuesday, hundreds of media personnel hit the streets condemning the attack.
