Court asks CBI to clarify stand in Tamang case

: Taking cognisance of the charge sheet filed by the CBI where it brought charges against the entire top leadership of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) in connection with a murder case, a city court on Monday asked the CBI to file a fresh application explaining its stand on the steps that ought to be taken against the accused.

The court asked the investigating officer of the CBI to clarify by June 6 whether a warrant or summon should be issued against those accused in the case.

In the charge sheet filed in connection with murder of All India Gorkha League (AIGL) leader Madan Tamang, the CBI has indicted GJM chief Bimal Gurung, GJM MLA’s from the hills, Roshan Giri and Harka Bahadur Chettri.

The charge sheet also names Mr.Gurung’s wife Asha Gurung, who heads GJM’s women’s wing as well as other party leaders Pradip Pradhan and Benoy Tamnang.

Meanwhile the GJM leadership which said that those named in the charge sheet are innocent had called for a rally in the hills as a show of strength.

Senior GJM leaders also met Chief Minister Mamata banerjee in the day and raised the issue.
