: The West Bengal Legislative Assembly on Friday adopted a motion urging the BJP-led government at the Centre for withdrawal of the Land Ordinance.

All the three major political forces in the State Assembly — the ruling Trinamool Congress, the Left Front and the Congress moved three different motions seeking withdrawal of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Ordinance, 2015.

Emphasising that there can be no compromise on the issue of the land ordinance, Mamata Banerjee described the law as “draconian”.
