: Suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh turned down the Centre’s offer of the position of chairman of the Telephone Advisory Committee for Kolkata on Saturday. Speaking to presspersons at his city residence, Mr. Ghosh said, “I am thankful to the DoT for offering me the post. But due to my preoccupation with the ongoing cases against me, I will not be able to accept the post.”

Mr. Ghosh was arrested by the State police in November 2013 and was granted interim bail in October 2016. He said the post was “highly technical and significant” and currently he would not be able to devote “enough time” to it. He emphasised that there was “no politics” behind the Centre’s offer.
