PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Make in India initiative saying that it would help set up a manufacturing base, while generating employment.

In a brief media interaction at Indian Institute Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) convocation, she said that almost everything that her company sells here is "made in India".

Ms Nooyi is an alumni of IIM-C.

"I think PM is absolutely right in this. It creates a manufacturing base and employment," she said, adding "that's very good."

To a question whether her company is looking to upgrade its Rs. 33,000 crore investment plan by 2020, she quipped "that's a lot of money... lets get on with that."

Ms. Nooyi had a lot of good words for Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu saying that he has been "fantastic and supportive in giving all approvals."

She was in Sri City on Friday to launch PepsiCo India's largest beverage plant.

She declined to comment on West Bengal saying that she was not prepared for a media interaction.
