A day after Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s grandnephew Surya Kumar Bose met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Berlin, family members led by Chandra Kumar Bose (younger brother of S.K. Bose) took out a rally in the city demanding declassification of the Netaji files.

The rallyists also raised slogans against intelligence agencies keeping Netaji’s family members under close surveillance.

“The files that have come out say that my father Amiya Nath Bose, who was a barrister at the Calcutta High Court and later became MP was kept under surveillance. We demand a judicial inquiry on why in independent India snooping was carried out against him,” Mr. Bose said.

The family members claimed that while 64 files are with the State government, about 100 files are with the Centre.

Those who participated in the rally did not believe that Netaji died on August 18, 1945 in a plane crash.
