Youth held with drugs worth over ₹3 lakh

LSD stamps, MDMA tablets seized

Sleuths of the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau arrested a 23-year-old man who was carrying drugs worth ₹3.75 lakh in Mogappair East on Saturday.

The officials received information about a youngster selling narcotics from Mogappair and surrounding areas. They made a policeman contact the seller under the pretext of purchasing drugs.

When he came to deliver, the NIB sleuths nabbed him. Sarath Saravanan, a resident of Triplicane, had completed his bachelor’s degree in computer application a few months ago. The police recovered five LSD stamps, 23 MDMA tablets, hashish and a motorcycle from him. He was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and remanded in judicial custody.

The youngster was initially using the drugs. Later, lured by the prospects of making quick money, he decided to sell narcotic substances.
