Now, organisational structure is going through a churn, impacting how business is conducted. A lot of this is the result of moving to an employee-centric world. Here, though inspired by a visionary leader, employees are self-directed. In this transformed workplace, which is becoming less of an exception and more of a norm, there is room for social responsibility, sense of entrepreneurship and work-life balance. Here are the major building blocks of such a workplace.

Instilling passion

In this work environment, employees are imbued with a sense of purpose. To be passionate about their work, employees have to see their contributions as essential in achieving a common corporate goal. They should be enabled to believe that their through their work, they can make a impact in the world.

Ensuring flexibility

We often equate flexibility with timings, but real flexibility encompasses many other aspects of work life, including behaviour.

By avoiding restrictive measures on employees and encouraging them to express themselves freely and volunteer ideas, employers will ensure they don’t have workers, but co-partners in a corporate mission.

Promoting team spirit

In the new business environment, an organisation cannot be sustained by the extraordinary contributions of star players. Now, the emphasis is on group effort. To foster team spirit, employees have to made to feel that they are related in a symbiotic manner to each other. And that they are not just a bunch of people working together. Companies have to organise regular team building exercises and promote communication, though exchange of ideas within a team.

Ensuring transparency

To create a sense of ownership among employees, an open-door policy should be maintained in all areas. Making decisions behind closed doors can promote distrust. Employees should feel they can approach their employer without any hesitation. The employer should also create a culture of open communication, enabling employees to approach him anytime.
