Woman crushed between buses

A woman passenger, who tried to board a bus at the T. Nagar terminus, was caught between two MTC buses and crushed to death around 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to the police, S. Valli, 48, a resident of Lake View Road in West Mambalam, lived with her husband Sukhadev, 52, and a 19-year-old daughter. She was working as a clerk in a private college in Thoraipakkam.

On Wednesday morning, she reached the terminus and spotted the bus number 597 at the exit. As the bus was about to leave she ran towards the bus.

At this point, the bus 5G also headed towards the exit. Valli got caught between the two buses and was crushed. The other passengers and the bus crew rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

Case registered

The Mambalam police have registered a case and driver Kannabiran of the 5G bus was detained by the police. A case has been registered under section 304A (causing death due to negligence) . Further investigations are on.
