Vetrichelvan murder: 5 held

Police arrested five men on charges of murdering S. Vetrichelvan (44), a Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) functionary at Madipakkam on May 20.

The victim had a dispute with his relative Jaganathan of Kanathur over a plot of land along ECR. Jaganathan had approached Rajesh alias Nagiya Arunachalapuram Perumal for executing the murder. On his instructions, Ganesh and Prabhu followed Vetrichelvan. Ganesh’s brother Vinod Kumar helped the gang in getting a car. On May 20, Velu, Gundu, and Kulla, members of Rajesh’s gang, assaulted Vetrichelvan in Moovarasanpettai.

Police arrested Mohan (22) and Prabhu (29) of Thiruvanmiyur, Perumal (29) of Somangalam, and Ganesh (26) and Vinod Kumar (28) of Guindy on Thursday. They were remanded in custody, police said.
