Lockheed Martin has inked an MoU with Terero Mobility, a Chennai-based startup. Headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company. The MoU will pave way for the startup to gain entry to Lockheed Martin’s supply chain.
Anupam Chandra, CEO and founder, Terero Mobility, said the MoU was to explore prospects of further development of Cargo Ground Build-up System (CGBS), a solution designed under a university research and development project sponsored by Lockheed Martin at IIT Madras. CGBS is a cargo handling vehicle that supports cargo and supplies unloading from military transport aircraft at remote bases and disaster response missions.
The MoU will explore possibilities of working together. “If this results in a contract, we would be designing, prototyping, testing and finally demonstrating a working prototype of CGBS to Lockheed Martin and the Indian Air Force. A remote-controlled vehicle weighing about 1.7 tonnes, it will handle a cargo of 3 tonnes,” Mr. Chandra said. The startup is currently bootstrapped and the founders are exploring avenues for investments.
The founders, Vishwajeet Sikchi and Anupam Chandra, are alumni of IIT Madras, batch of 2017.
