Two burglars arrested in Mangadu

85 sovereigns of gold jewellery, worth ₹25 lakh, recovered from them

The Mangadu police on Monday arrested two burglary suspects and recovered 85 sovereigns of gold jewellery worth ₹25 lakh from them.

On instructions of Sandeep Rai Rathore, Commissioner of Police, Avadi, a special team of was formed to investigate a series of break-ins that occurred in the Mangadu police station limit.

The team, led by Mangadu crime inspector Latha Maheswari, while conducting vehicle checks at Sikkarayapuram, intercepted two suspects and interrogated them.

They were identified as D. Rajan, 46, of Sikkarayapuram, and S. Naveenkumar, 24, of Tiruvannamalai. They confessed that they were involved in the series of burglaries in the Mangadu area. The duo was arrested, and the police recovered the gold jewellery from them.
