T.N. reports 27 new cases of COVID-19

Tamil Nadu reported 27 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Monday. The fresh cases were reported in Chennai and six other districts.

In Chennai, 15 persons tested positive for COVID-19. With this, a total of 7,51,301 persons have tested positive for the infection in the city. There were four cases in Chengalpattu and three in Coimbatore. Madurai, Sivaganga, Tiruvallur and Thoothukudi reported one case each.

The State’s overall case tally stood at 34,53,290. It continues to report zero daily deaths due to COVID-19.

Twenty-six patients were discharged after treatment. There were a total of 232 active cases in the State. Of them, Chennai accounted for 103 active cases, while Chengalpattu and Coimbatore had 37 and 19 active cases, respectively. There were no active cases in 16 districts. The remaining districts had fewer than 10 active cases each.

As many as 14,331 samples were tested. This took the total number of samples tested so far to 6,59,51,259.

According to Sunday’s data, Chennai’s positivity rate stood at 1%. Chengalpattu and Mayiladuthurai accounted for a positivity rate of 0.5% each.
