Three tiger cubs go on display in Vandalur zoo

Visitors to the Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandalur, will get to see three tiger cubs — two black and one white — that have been released into the enclosure along with their mother Namrutha.

A press release said two of the three-month-old cubs have darker stripes, showing signs of being melanistic.

Black tigers are rare variant of the same species and have thick stripes which make the tawny background barely visible.

The other cub is white like its parents, Namrutha and Nagula. The zoo has 28 tigers in all. A shop has been opened for visitors to purchase souvenirs such as key chains, T-shirts and toys and more products would be on display soon. A virtual reality (VR) jungle safari and underwater marine view has also been made available.
