Alex C. Joseph, prime suspect in the illegal import of luxury cars, was remanded to judicial custody until February 17 by a special court on Thursday.

Alex was nabbed last Saturday by a special team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in New Delhi.

He had remained elusive ever since the agency registered a case against him as well as a few Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials and others on March 20, 2013, in connection with violations pre/post the import of luxury cars through sea ports.

The special court had permitted the CBI to hold Alex for custodial interrogation for three days.

After completion of the interrogation, he was produced before the court on Thursday. S. Vanangamudi, principal special judge for CBI cases remanded Alex to judicial custody until February 17.
