Shops come up at Island Grounds

Even as vendors have started setting up fire cracker shops ahead of Deepavali at Island Grounds here, the Fire and Rescue Services Department is waiting for the Madras High Court order before proceeding with issuing of licences.

A senior official of the department said they were yet to receive applications from the vendors for issuing of fire licences at the Island Grounds.

Once the applications are received, the officials would inspect these shops for safety measures.

The procedure of issuing fire licences would be completed within two days, he added.
