The Adyar police have arrested six suspects and launched a manhunt to nab a woman advocate who allegedly engaged them to murder a 50-year-old businessman in Indira Nagar.

Suresh Baradwaj went missing on June 21. Police found that he had met an advocate, Preethi, before his disappearance.

Police sources said Baradwaj paid a domestic worker ₹5 lakh, and used this as leverage to force her into having sexual relations with him. When she stopped working for his family, he demanded that she return the money, and threatened her. She sought assistance from Preethi, who came forward to mediate and took ₹60 lakh from Baradwaj. When she did not link both parties, he demanded that she repay the money.

Baradwaj was taken to Kasimedu, and clobbered to death with an oar.
