As part of its 90th year celebrations, the Rotary Club of Madras will be releasing Timeless Legacy, a book detailing the club’s history and achievements through the years.
The club’s formation dates back to 1929 and it is the oldest Rotary Club in South India as well as the third oldest club in the country.
“We had released a version of the book as a part of the 75th year celebrations of the club. But this updated version will now detail what the club has focused on during the last fifteen years as well,” said Ranjit Pratap, president of the Rotary Club of Madras.
“We’ve undertaken several projects through the years which include providing shelter and rehabilitation for young children, educational support, environmental conservation through our go-green projects and sanitation-driven projects for rural communities. The club has also been focusing on skill development and has been promoting vocational training,” Mr. Pratap added.
Over the last one year, the club has also focused on providing sustainable livelihoods to people and imparting skills for the same.
Historian V. Sriram will speak at the book launch on March 19 about the history of the club and its ties to the city over the years.
