Three youngsters reportedly attacked two persons in different parts of Virugambakkam with a machete and robbed them early on Sunday.

In one incident, around 12.15 a.m, Haraj Khan, 20, of Gandhi Nagar Main Road in Virugambakam, was chatting with his friends Ayub Khan and Waris on Shek Abdullah Nagar Main Road in the locality.

Three persons on a bike stopped near them and attacked them with a machete and robbed them of ₹2,000 and two cell phones. They then chased them away.

A case has been registered and further investigation is on.

In another incident, Alaguvel, 20, who works in a mall, was returning home past midnight when three persons on a bike attacked him on the head with a sharp weapon and robbed his mobile phone and cash. When he reached home, a relative rushed him to hospital.

The Virugambakkam police have registered a case and are investigating.
