With the aim of creating awareness about dengue among public, Srinivas Young Men’s Association (SYMA), along with the Chennai Corporation-Public Health Department and Councillor of Ward 116, B. Srinivasan, organised a rally in Triplicane. The rally, which started from Barathiyar Illam, was flagged off by the Zonal Chairman, Sakthi.
The rally highlighted about the disease, its symptoms and what needs to be done by the public to keep their area free of dengue.
The participants, including school children, distributed pamphlets urging people not to allow water to stagnate in their surroundings; ensure that overhead tanks are kept clean and capped; dispose off coconut shells, old tyres etc., to avoid breeding of mosquitoes.
Focus on possible symptoms
The rally also focussed on the possible symptoms such as fever accompanied by bouts of cold; continuous headache; body pain; pale pink rashes on the skin and the like.
It also stressed that people having fever should not treat themselves or buy drugs from medical shops but must visit qualified medical professionals for treatment.
