Private nursing students ask for govt. order to be implemented

The order grants equal opportunities in government jobs for students from private institutions

February 12, 2014 10:09 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:38 pm IST - CHENNAI:

Students of private nursing institutions across the State came together in the city for a meeting to draw the State government’s attention towards their demands.

The students, who held the meeting near Valluvar Kottam, are demanding the implementation of government order (G.O.) 29 issued in 2012. The G.O. grants equal opportunities in government jobs for students from private institutions.

“The government has said an entrance examination will be conducted through the medical recruitment board for government appointments. We want the government to implement the G.O. and also conduct the examination. The G.O. should be implemented without any changes,” said a student.

It is in the light of this G.O. that nursing students of government institutions have been demanding job security and scrapping of the proposed entrance examination.
