Police rescue minor bride

The city police stopped a child marriage at an Ayanavaram temple on Thursday.

Following information from the child helpline, the police personnel, led by inspector Natarajan, rushed to the spot where the families were busy with preparations for the marriage of a 21-year-old groom and a 17-year-old girl. The marriage was stopped before the tying of the thali .

The youth was let off with a warning and the girl was handed over to the Child Welfare Committee.
