Commuters are sweating it out at the Vanuvampet bus stop as the facility lacks a bus shelter. The bus stop on Medavakkam Main Road is the only facility for the residents of Nanganallur, Thillai Ganga Nagar and its surrounding areas.
Route numbers M14, 14M, 51M, M51 and 18D halt at this bus stop located on the stretch going towards the direction of St. Thomas Mount.
The lack of shelter has forced the commuters to stand on the carriageway putting themselves at risk. The elderly and differently-abled passengers have a tough time waiting under the sun. Without the usual display boards, getting information about the bus services plying on this stretch could be challenging for a first time-visitor.
“Sometimes, I have to wait an hour to board a bus and without a shelter from the scorching sun, I am forced to take shelter in the shops nearby,” says a commuter.
