In a bid to bring in more transparency in the registration of property documents, the Registration Department plans to launch Star 2.0 software — a mechanism in which the applicant would be informed of every step taken towards registration of documents from September 3.

According to an official release, applicants seeking registration of documents should register their mobile phone number in the website https://tnreginet.gov.in

Once the registered mobile number is verified through OTP, the applicants can prepare draft documents for the registration.

Each and every stage in the process of registration would be conveyed to the applicant though SMS. Once the document is registered, the office of the Inspector General of Registration would verify the claim with the applicant, the release added.

If an application was kept pending, the applicant would be informed of the reasons and the necessary steps to be taken by him/her.

In case, an application for registration was rejected for not complying with the norms, an authorised rejection certificate can be obtained from authorities concerned through the Star 2.0 software.

If a rejection certificate was not provided by the authority concerned who insists only on providing oral information, the toll-free number 1800 102 5174 could be used to file a complaint with the Inspector General of Registration, it added.
