More CCTVs, CRPF cover needed for bypoll: DMK

The DMK has petitioned the Chief Electoral Officer, urging the Election Commission to deploy additional Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and CCTV cameras in all the streets of the Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar Assembly constituency, which would be heading to the polls on December 21.

In his representation to Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni, DMK Organisation Secretary R.S. Bharathi stated that the number of CRPF personnel deployed within the constituency’s limits was inadequate.

“In view of the various corrupt practices and illegal activities by anti-social elements [which were witnessed] in the run-up to the bypoll which was rescinded earlier this year, it is imperative to depute additional CRPF personnel to the constituency,” he contended.

Similarly, he said it was also necessary to install CCTV cameras in at least four locations in every street for monitoring all activities. Mr. Bharathi also requested the CEO to set up a well-equipped monitoring centre to keep tabs on the live visuals of the CCTV cameras operating across the constituency.
