Three masked men in a car attempted to rob the cashier of a gold buying firm of ₹20 lakh in T. Nagar in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police said Krish, 34, works as a cashier in the gold buying firm. On Tuesday morning, he arrived from Bengaluru by bus with ₹20 lakh in cash. Chandrakumar, a security guard from his firm, picked him up in a two-wheeler.

When they were near Bharathi Nagar, 2nd Street, on North Usman Road, they noticed that a red car was following them. When they were nearing the office, three men got out of the car and tried to snatch the bag from Mr. Krish.

However, Mr. Krish ran into the office and pulled the shutters. Syed Sultan, the security guard, rushed out with a gun and pointed it at the robbers. On seeing the weapon, the three sped away. A complaint has been registered with the Pondy Bazaar police station.
